Harry Gesner (1925 to 2022) designed houses that behave like landscape. His best known, the Wave House in Malibu, curls toward the Pacific like the swell beneath it. He drew it, as the story goes, while sitting on a surfboard, watching the water.
624 Cole Place, high in Trousdale Estates, carries the same instinct. It is a bold, sculptural mid-century residence with panoramic views across the city, a reminder that the most modern houses in Los Angeles are often the ones built decades ago.
